L’archive dans la broderie contemporaine : un geste politique ?

Cet article fait partie d’une recherche-création en arts plastiques, dont le corpus artistique analysé est en en lien avec la pratique plastique de l’autrice. Peu d’études dans le champ des arts plastiques ont abordé le lien entre broderie contemporaine et archive. Pourtant, la liste est longue et ces pratiques, originellement liées à l’artisanat, témoignent d’un engouement dans le monde de l’art contemporain. Il s’agira donc d’étudier un corpus composé principalement de trois artistes, afin d’identifier des stratégies esthétiques transversales, malgré l’apparente diversité des sujets abordés par ces pratiques plastiques. Dans une perspective sociocritique d’analyse d’œuvres, la notion de temps sera convoquée dans le but d’élargir la compréhension de ces pratiques, en la mettant dans un contexte contemporain dans lequel le rythme est un véritable enjeu politique.

This article, which is part of a creative research, analyzes an artistic corpus related to the author’s artwork. Even though numerous contemporary artists use embroidery, a practice originally linked to craftsmanship, which clearly states its importance in the world of art, there are only a few studies in the field of visuals arts that have addressed the link between contemporary embroidery and archives. This article attempts to study the works of three archival embroidering artists around different subjects, in order to identify aesthetic strategies that cut across the ensemble of these artistic approaches. From a sociological criticism perspective of artworks analysis, the notion of time will be used in order to broaden the understanding of this practice, by placing it in a contemporary context, an era whose rhythm has become a real political issue.
