Le médium nomade du logogramme et du logoneige de Christian Dotremont

Christian Dotremont crée, en 1962, le logogramme — un poème peint qui déforme l’écriture alphabétique — dans la perspective de réaliser la poésie au cœur du signe graphique. Le rêve d’une fusion des arts, afin de conférer à la graphie une expressivité, induit une expérimentation des médiums. Le logogramme appréhende la page du livre comme l’espace du tableau et, partant, bouleverse l’emploi traditionnel des médiums. Dotremont métamorphose encore le médium du logogramme quand il décide de tracer le poème dans la neige. L’élection du paysage et du sol enneigé en tant que médiums logographiques manifeste l’esthétique du nomadisme, inhérente à l’Œuvre de Dotremont. L’invention du logoneige — un logogramme dessiné dans la neige, puis photographié — implique un autre médium, la photographie. La mutation des formes et des médiums semble précisément caractériser le genre du logogramme.

Christian Dotremont creates, in 1962, the logogramme — a painted poem which deforms alphabetic writing — in order to realize poetry in the heart of the graphic sign. The dream of a fusion of the arts to find an expressiveness of the written form implies an experiment of the mediums. The logogramme comprehends the page of the book as the space of a painting and, consequently, shifts the traditionnal use of the mediums. Dotremont transforms again the medium of the logogramme when he decides to draw his poem in the snow. The adoption of the landscape and the frozen ground as mediums highlights the esthetism of nomadism in Dotremont’s work. The creation of thelogoneige — a logogramme drawn in the snow, then photographed — implies another medium, the photography. The evolution of the shapes and the mediums seems to characterize precisely the genre of the logogramme.
